Pulse Map

At-a-glance view of two pulse signals: this year vs last year, and this year vs its own annual norm.

The Pulse Map is a Kingdom Metrics portal visualization that combines two complementary directional signals into a single, glanceable indicator. The first pulse compares your current 8-week rolling average to the equivalent 8-week period one year ago (the 8-over-8 signal). The second pulse compares your current 8-week rolling average to your trailing 52-week annual norm (the Growth Index signal).

When both pulses are above 1.0, the Pulse Map shows "Both pulses firing — above last year and above your annual norm" — the cleanest possible growth signal. When one fires and the other does not, the map highlights the divergence so leadership can ask the right follow-up question: is the recent growth a true year-over-year shift, or is it a bounce off a soft annual baseline?

Why it matters for your church: A single growth number can mislead. A service can be growing relative to its own slow year and still be smaller than it was at this time last year — or vice versa. The Pulse Map shows both dimensions at once so leadership never has to pick which question to ask first.
